i’ve learned this myself — had someone make a passive aggressive comment on a fic about misuse of a word and it really ruined the experience of sharing with people. it was a dumb mistake, sure, but i don’t think it would’ve hurt them to ignore it.

I think advice should be taken when the person is nice about it— passive aggressiveness　 doesn’t do anyone much good :[

yes, honestly. fanfic is for fun, and if it’s not good and there are errors, it’s best to just move on.

If you say, you have great ideas but just need another person to catch little mistakes then no.

I don’t think so, if you’re tactful about it?

I wonder how I would go about it though. Just say something like “Hey, your fic is great! It would be even greater if you got a beta reader!”

“Or maybe you just naturally suck at writing!”

“And you think you’re good! But you’re not!”

“And I don’t know why these other people think you’re good and tell you to give you a false sense of confidence, but beta reader, god.”

There are some fics so terrible I literally want to say that to people.

Question: Is it considered rude to tell people to get a beta reader? Seriously, some of the fics I read would be fabulous if only something with a good sense of prose would look over their writing :|
